I'm in the midst of one of my epic projects these days and it is called: Growing My Hair Back Out After I Chopped It All Off. If you haven't noticed, my hair has been on a bit of an epic journey this year, and I've chronicled many of my woes right here on Style Lush! Here is just sampling of how I've moaned and groaned about my hair on this blessed website:
Reader help: Your favorite at-home hair dye
My new hair/my new hair product: Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly ...
Reader help: How to soothe fried hair?
How to get the haircut you want
Style on the cheap: Revlon Retractable Cord Hair Dryer
Taking control of the mop: Morrocan Oil
I LOVE TALKING ABOUT MY HAIR!
The problem? I've recently had the epiphany that in order for my hair to look decent on a daily basis, I'm going to have to actually style it. That's right, I love obsessing about my hair and haircut but I don't actually do anything about it!
Here's the thing, over the summer I just threw some mousse in my hair and went out the door. I could scrunch it up a little and there were enough layers that once it dried it looked kinda flippy and cute. About three inches of growth later (and let's face it, I'm also BADLY in need of a trim) we are firmly in "awkward" territory. It ain't pretty. It reminded me why I hacked my hair off in the first place: sheer, utter frustration.
But I digress! I want longer hair again! And so? I must work with what I have.
My go-to style is usually creating beachy curls with a flat iron. It worked great when I had shorter hair! I didn't have to blow it dry and I could just "touch up" sections that needed some oomph. Now that my hair is longer it does the dreaded Carol Brady flip at the bottom.

My old 1 1/2 inch barrel curling iron! I ran some of my trusty Morrocan Oil through my damp hair, blew it dry, and then curled the ends under. Then I just made some waves in the front sections, did a quick spritz of hairspray, and I was fit to leave the house in 15 minutes or less. My hair might actually live to grow past my collarbones again!
