I am very pleased with our recent drape and rod purchases from Pottery Barn. We installed them over the weekend...Well, I got the drapes and the rings and all the other things ready and my husband drilled an extra hole or two in our wall while offering a few specific words until he was finished. Let's just say the question of "Is it drywall or a stud?" can make or break you. And yes, we had a stud finder. An inefficient one, clearly.
Actually, two of the curtains were installed, but the third window in our family room is a sliding glass door that leads to the backyard. The straight-forward rod I bought wasn't going to work like I had originally planned. If you are in the know about curtain rods, there are not that many out there that will traverse in and out like the ugly, yet effective, ones we just took down. JCPenney seems to have the market on traverse rods, but the styles weren't exactly what I was looking for upon my quick search.
Cost Plus World Market did have a traverse rod for sale, plus it matched our curtain rod aesthetic. Ha. Basically, it was a dark enough espresso color that would blend nicely with the black iron rods we just purchased.
We also bought two sets of these clip rings to complete our rod purchase. Here's hoping we have better luck drilling into our walls. The outlook seemed dim, but in the end we'll have a functional curtain for our high-trafficked area. Sigh.
*Both items are on sale right now.
