(Also known as, "These Sure Ain't Tic-Tacs, Huh?")
A friend recently introduced me to the most dear, precious breath mints (I know, right? Crazytalk!) I've ever had. les Anis de Flavigny French mints. She unceremoniously offered me a mint one day. Immediately, when I put it in my mouth, I could taste (smell?) roses. Upon closer inspection of the tin of mints, I read that these were, in fact, rose-flavored mints. Between the intriguing flavor and the beautiful tin, I was hooked.
I've since tried the Orange Blossom and Violet flavors, but so far, I believe that the Rose is still my favorite. These mints have been in production since 1591, handcrafted in France in (purportedly) the same little village where the movie "Chocolat" took place. The best part though, is that there's an aniseed (the seed of an anise--which gives us the flavor licorice) in the middle of each mint, which is a natural breath freshener.
I think that these would make a lovely little gift for someone or an indulgent little decadence for yourself. My friend purchases hers at Central Market (if you live in Texas) but they're also readily available at Amazon.com. You're better than Tic-Tacs...really, you are!

Your friend must be a truly discerning person. I like her already.

I didn't know they had rose flavored mints! I like the violet ones, but now I need to try the rose.
