I’m on the lookout for a better kitchen booster seat. We have one that I spent somewhere around $15 or $20 on at Walmart or Target and I am not a huge fan. It’s this one. See that crack between the seat and the back of the seat? That’s where the seat snaps together so that it fits in a smaller box for shipping. And that’s where the seat snaps apart every time a kid leans back in it, even a moderate amount. So I basically have to reattach the seat back every single time we use it. (That’s upwards of five times a day, some days, when you factor in meals, snacks, craft projects, and puzzle time.)

I’d also like a better looking seat. The version we have is green plastic, and since we eat in our formal dining room for every meal, it really doesn’t add much to the décor. (Not that we are all that super fancy. We just don’t have another table in the kitchen.)
Any suggestions for me?

We have the one colerose linked to and love it. We've always used it in place of a proper high chair. I like the fact that we can easily take it with us if we're heading to a friend's for dinner.

We have the Summer brand foam booster, and we love it. It has two heights so my 4year old uses it when he does his writing, and my 2 year old uses it for eating. My neighbor bought it for me on clearance at Ross, but if you could find it I would highly recommend it. Still green, but the back is lower so you don't even see it. Well used and no issues.

We have this one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001KYJ5V0/?tag=hyprod-20&hvadid=15469369419&hvpos=1o3&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=241560169138137168&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&ref=asc_df_B001KYJ5V0
It's not cheap but I wanted something that was easily cleanable, strapped to the chair, had straps for the kid, and was unobtrusive because we also only eat in the dining room (the eat-in part of the kitchen is play kitchen and kid craft table space which is how I grew up).

We've had this one for over a year and I really like it: Graco Blossom Booster Seat http://amzn.com/B002TUTQMM Not hideous, easy to clean and simple.

We have this: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4282469
I would recommend it for a number of reasons, it is inexpensive, and IT FITS INTO THE DISHWASHER. I can pop it in and it gets all nice and shiny, even the straps soaked with yogurt. It does not have the back-cracking problem you mentioned. Enjoy!
