TubTrugs are flexible plastic containers that come in 9 sizes and 14 colors. They have handles so you can drag them around easily, and if you want they'll sell you a lid so you can stack them up.
Cute, aren't they? I first saw them at Land of Nod ($16 for a large), and then also at Pottery Barn Kids ($10 for a small, on sale). Then I started seeing knock-offs at Target (I just bought a pretty big one for about $7), Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Homegoods, and just about every other store I frequent. This flexible plastic tub thing is....A Thing.
No wonder, because these suckers are AWESOME. They're slick, shiny and come in a rainbow of bubblegum colors to match any room. They're sturdy and firm, but also bendy. I've been using a pair to keep toys contained, but these would make excellent laundry baskets or a place to store shoes, winter hats and scarves, outdoor equipment (like balls, helmets, gloves) or anything else that needs a spot to live, but has open access.
At the Tubtrugs site, they have folks using these buckets for everything from bathing babies to feeding horses. They're also UV resistant and frost-proof, making them IDEAL for outdoor use. (I'm sure my generic Target versions do not have these qualities, but the TubTrugs are only a few dollars extra and come in FAR more colors/sizes.) They're so slick and lightweight they'd be a snap to clean out, so I can totally see why people use them in the yard.
They're definitely not as polished as a woven basket or printed canvas bin, but they're cheap-ish, washable, and serve a variety of uses over what I imagine would many years in many different rooms. (More than I can say for some fancy bins I've bought.)
Have you guessed that I'd like to buy some more? I would like to buy some more.

I love mine; we own three that we use for laundry. Our washer/dryer are on the back porch and the laundry is in our room, so when one is full I just carry it out there.
We also keep one by the back door for shoes, and another on top of the dryer which holds all of our big towels for swimming.
So handy!
