Hot Fuss by the Killers was released in 2004 but it's still on heavy rotation on my iPod. I'm not a huge Killers fan. They're good, some of their stuff is great, but they haven't wowed me with anything they've released since Hot Fuss and I've never bothered to see them live. I don't still listen to Hot Fuss because the Killers are my favourite band is what I'm saying.
Part of why I love Hot Fuss is nostalgia; I was living in England when I bought the album and certain songs take me back to cruising down motorways in my ancient Astra, or sitting in the garden of a 300-year old pub for Pimm's o'clock, like nothing else can.
The other reason I still love Hot Fuss is that it's just a great album. It's got it all: catchy beats, synthesizers, campy lyrics.
What are your timeless albums? Trust circle time, you guys. I promise not to judge your choices (unless your timeless album is by Celine Dion.)

Ooh I have several and Hot Fuss is one of them! My other top picks would be both August and Everything After AND Recovering the Satellites by Counting Crows, both are such great albums. And both Pieces of You and Spirit by Jewel are lovely albums that I still listen to. Good post, this has got me wanting to dig up a bunch of music from my high school days!

I'm certainly showing my age here, but Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi takes me right back in time. Also, Tidal by Fiona Apple is a time capsule for me.

For me, it's a tie between Jimmy Eat World's "Clarity" and Saves the Day's "Through Being Cool". Early 2000s was when I came of age (so to speak) musically. Lots of memories tied to those albums as well.

I think Mumford & Son's "Sigh No More," for sure. I've been listening to it on repeat for a couple years now and I'd happily listen to it for years to come.
Pat Green's "Live from Billy Bobs," which sounds ridiculous but it's nostalgic-soaked, awesome Texas country music. Oh I love love love it.
Another strange one (my music tastes are just STRANGE) is Jennifer Knapp's "Kansas," which is a religious album but there's something about her songwriting/voice that has always just GRIPPED me.

The first one that came to mind was "Tragic Kingdom" by No Doubt. But there are tons.

I am going to throw in some Can Con for you, Hillary. I love:
- Shakespeare my Butt, The Lowest of the Low
- Phantom Power, The Hip
- Little Jabs, Two Hours Traffic
- Five Days in July, Blue Rodeo
- Asking for Flowers, Kathleen Edwards
I have some 'older-than-me' albums that I love -- like Fleetwood Mac's self-titled album and Rumours. And like Jennie I'm a sucker for Mumford and Sons.

Great topic! A few of my faves are: Macy Gray's on how life is, Jewell' s pieces of you, TLC's Crazy, Sexy, Cool.

Here are some that came to mind: Paul Simon - 'Graceland' and Fleet Foxes - 'Fleet Foxes'.
Totally agree with Counting Crows - 'August and Everything After' and Mumford & Sons - 'Sigh No More'.
