I am on a quest to unbrown my living room. It needs some serious help and I've been hemming and hawing about what direction I actually want to take with it for a while now. One of the hardest parts for me is identifying if I want to go super colorful or if I want to go super calm and neutral (but not brown), both of which are ideas that appeal to me.
Christina suggested a fabric, a long time ago, that she liked for me:
It happens to be a fabric that Young House Love recently pointed out on their blog, as well. At first, I admit, I didn't instantly love it. I mean, it's snakes! Isn't that a little, out there? But, um, I do have a snake, owned an iguana for many years and frankly am a bit out there. It's also bright and fun and quirky and whimsical and these are all good things. It didn't take long for it to grow on me, she was totally right on, of course! I've started to seriously consider recovering the chairs in my living room with it.
The question is, how do you know for sure you want bright and colorful vs calm and neutral?

You just "know" I've been toying with a neutral bedroom since my quilt is shot and as many things as I find, I can't seme to take the leap. I am color.
I think you problabhy are too, though I know more about your fashion than your decor style- for me they are one in the same.
GET THE SNAKES!

Just go for it! You don't need to dive in, just go for enough color blasts and funky fabric in pillows, etc first. They are easy enough to change and don't require a hige financial commitment. The snakes are cool.
