Reader Help: Leggings! Matching! Confused!

Lately I've been buying a caboodle of t shirt dresses (so comfy and cute!), and I'm hopeful that at least some of them can transition from summer into fall and then winter if I add a scarf or a cardigan, and then when it gets really cold, I'll add some leggings or tights.  (But I'd prefer leggings, to be honest, I'm not a tights lover.)

Here's where you come in, dear reader, because for some reason I seem to be severely challenged in the "matching leggings to a dress" arena. You can buy just about any color leggings that you can think of, American Apparel has a veritable rainbow of the things, and I KNOW intellectually what colors go with what, but every time I think about, say, RED LEGS, I feel confused. 

Ok, so with this black dress:

I am thinking black leggings. Mostly because I think I will end up pairing it with a pink cardigan, and I am not feeling pink leggings. 

But then for this navy dress:

I got nothing. I just feel confused. Maybe...mustard? Maybe? Does that sound like it might work? Should I just wear navy leggings and boots and hope no one even notices I have legs?

Anyone have any brilliant leggings/sweater/dress color combinations to suggest? Help!

I am also contemplating this, so leggings/tights have been on the brain lately. For both, I'd suggest gray. I guess the closest one in the link you posted is Heather Gray. It's a neutral that is fine with black and navy, and it looks nice with brown riding boots, if you have them.

I think mustard is a good idea for the navy, too. Hm. I also kind of like the Imperial Purple shade. Is that too weird? I think with boots, most of the purple would be hidden, and it could be a cool shot of color.

That first dress in particular is BEGGING for bright! fun! leggings. Kelly green, or a bright orangey-red, or electric blue. Do it. Dooooo it.

(and yes, also, mustard for the navy dress. Or a nice wine color. Mustard tights/navy dress is one of my favorite fall combos. Takes a really summery look and autumns it right up.)

I was thinking a nice soft gray for the navy dress. A dark one, but a gray nonetheless.
