I have a new favourite mascara and it cost less than $4 (and isn't tested on animals!and is suitable for sensitive eyes! and doesn't make my lashes clump together into one monster lash!).
N.Y.C. Sky Rise Lengthening Mascara is a simple, easy-to-use mascara. The brush is straight. The mascara is just thick enough to coat my lashes without becoming clumpy and horrible. I have yet to find a better mascara that can be bought for under $4.

Yes! I recommend this all the time. It's my favorite ever and I have tried pretty much everything, both drug store and high end.
