Lately, I've been looking for a different angle on the idea of "mom jewelry" for myself. You know, the cute necklaces that people wear with their kid's initials or names on them--like the one that Christina Applegate's character, Reagan wears on NBC's "Up All Night."
Reagan's "Amy" Necklace
I like the idea of having something like that to wear, but wasn't willing to neccesarily wear the same necklace every day. Also, I've got two kids--that begins to look a little busy after more than one name. I've found the answer to my conundrum (a true "first world conundrum" if ever there was one).
Alex and Ani Script Initial Bangle
A month ago, I ordered two of these bracelets from Nordstrom. I saw them in the store, but I had an antsy five year old in tow and I was unable to give them a serious look at the time. Nordstrom has such a great website, free shipping (with no minimum purchase) and excellent customer service, so I didn't hesitate to come home and order two--an "A" and a "J" (which are my children's initials).
First of all, you can't beat the price, ($24 each) which made buying two bracelets much easier. Secondly, they've held up very well to my banging about and compulsive hand washing. I like that they are bangle bracelets and not huge (I have child-like wrists). They're dainty enough to stack with other bracelets and casual enough for everyday wear. I think that they'd make wonderful bridesmaid gifts, but also really just a good gift for anyone--mother or not.

I have one and love it!
