Oh you guys. I had such incredibly high hopes for the TOMS wedges I got for my birthday. So cute! So cheerful! Perfect for summer! I'd seen them in person a few times and could not get over how adorable they looked on everyone. I'm a size 8.5 and all my other TOMS (I have three other pairs!) are in that size, even the glitters, which people say to order a half size up. I ordered the wedges off the website, which totally breaks my rule of never buying anything unless I can try it on first, and proceeded to wait by the mailbox.
And then? Holy CRAP did they hurt. Searing, unbearable pain in the toes. The length of the shoe was fine. The heels were fine. It was the seam that goes right across the peep toe that was making me hate life! I polled Twitter and everyone assured me they'd probably loosen up. So I wore them out with Band-Aids layered underneath and hoped for stretching.
Nope.
I wore them again for about 20 minutes to my sister's pre-wedding barbeque last weekend and I looked down to find that my big toe was turning purple. I promptly switched them out for my trusty, comfy cowboy boots and decided to give them to my sister (who wears a size 8 and proclaimed them "so comfy!" Ugh. How irritating). I guess I could order them in a size 9, however I'm worried that they'll be too long. Any way you slice it, I'm depressed! I wore them outside so I'm pretty sure I can't exchange them.
Tell me, have you bought TOMS wedges in your size and had this issue? Did going up a half size help or was it a poor fit?
(also if you have exchanged worn shoes at TOMS.com please detail the HOW in the comments. I'm so sad!)

My Nordstrom carries these, maybe go to a store and try them on instead of ordering them and having to deal with their "customer srevice"

I had that issue the first time I wore my black wedges, but they were fine after that. I have grey wedges, too, and those were fine right off the bat.
So sorry yours hurt. :(

i hate my wedges- they are so uncomfortable and have not loosened up! I am thinking of bringing them to a shoe repair store and seeing if they can stretch them for me (I bought them last year and can not even bring myself to wear them for 10 minutes...what a waste!) I love my regular toms- even the glitters- they feel like slippers they are so comfortable!

I had this same problem! But I didn't know about the loosening up theory, so I returned them as soon as I tried them on and felt how uncomfortable they were. OUCH. Was so disappointed - they are adorable!

My cousin bought the flats and they were so painful! I guess we'll have to stick with the plain old TOMS. They are too expensive to be painful!

I think, sadly, that sizing is kind of a crapshoot with Toms. I've worn 3 pairs of the classics in size 10, so I ordered a new pair online in a 10 and they were TINY. I held them up to my existing, great-fitting size 10 and they were at LEAST a half inch shorter. Same thing with kids- 2 pairs, same size on the label, WILDLY DIFFERENT sizes in real life. So from now on, with Toms, I think I have to say "only if I've tried them on."

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had this problem. The wedges destroyed my toes too - I got huge blisters where the seam ran across my big toes and on my pinky toes. I've yet to figure out a solution other than letting them sit in my closet...

Me too, me too. I get blisters across my big toes when I wear them, which I do because they're still so cute. A shoe repair shop is a good idea... I wonder if they could stretch out the toe end.
