Back when we bought our first home, we ventured out to a furniture store and purchased some outdoor furniture made solely of wood. Seven years later, we have nothing to show for ourselves besides a warped table, two benche, and one lounge chair. The remaining chair is also so faded from the original red, it looks like a dirty shade of pink.
I am not hear to tell you it's the wood's fault, per se. We take full responsibility for not giving the wooded patio set the attention it so needed. When buying wooden outdoor furniture, you must treat it with oil to preserve the planks from the elements outside.
We did not do this. Wait, we did do this, once, during the first year, but our first child began walking and our focus and all our free time evaporated. The patio set got neglected. (And why should anyone HAVE to take care of furniture, anyway? LAME.)
Now that we are moving to a new home, we decided we needed a new set to go with our new backyard. So, last night while I was buying the usual Target staples, I meandered over to the outdoor area and came across this lovely right here.
It was on clearance, so I knew it might be closer to our price range. I took a couple of pictures of it and brought a pamphlet home. I showed my discovery to my husband and we decided it might be the way to go. I called Target this morning and was told that since it's on clearance, the floor model might be the only one left, and they couldn't put anything on clearance on hold.
So, I dropped the older kids off at camp and headed to Target with the baby. Two trips later, with baby in tow, we are now the proud owners of a new ALUMINUM patio set. At 50 PERFECT OFF.
(This set is not on clearance, nor on sale online, so head on into the store if you are in the market for a new set!)
Also, if this set is not your style, Sara has a great patio furniture round-up here!
