I despise Wal-mart. I don't even have any carefully reasoned moral or political reasons for it, it is just that the one near me smells bad and is dirty and I never, ever go there unless it is impossible to find what I need anywhere else. (And by anywhere else, you all know that I mean Target.)
So when I recently discovered that all of my workout pants had holes in the... how shall I put this delicately... upper inner seams, and further discovered that Target had nothing at all that I considered acceptable for replacements, I steeled my nerve and ventured into Wal-mart.
And I found the perfect pair of workout pants! But only one pair, and I cannot for the life of me find them online, and now I fear that the world's perfect pair of workout pants has been discontinued! Woe is me. However, if you are willing to brave Wal-mart yourself, look for the Danskin Now Dri-More Bermuda Shorts. The ones with the stripes on the front and without pockets but not the bike shorts, I don't think. Sorry to tease you this way.
However, I also found two other things I liked in the cheap-one-summer-only t-shirt category, so I offer them as a consolation. First up, the Hanes Women's Essential Short Sleeve V-neck Tee, comes in eight colors and costs $4.88.
Definitely a one-season shirt, but not as tissue-thin as lots of tees I find these days and mine have held up pretty well to washing so far.
Next, the White Stag Women's Knit Tanks, sold in two-packs online but singly in stores for under $4.00 each. I really like these because the material is thick and the straps are wide enough that I am not constantly rearranging my bra straps. I'd advise sticking with the solids though, the prints didn't do it for me.
So there you go, not only did I survive Wal-mart, but I left happy. Shocked me too.

I'm not a Wal-Mart fan, but it's one of the few places I can find affordable, plus size workout clothes. C'mon people. Support a substantial girl's effort to be a little less substantial, won't you?
