I asked for your help accessorizing a new dress in February and because I am so on top of things I'm just getting around to updating you now. Halfway through May. Please hold your applause.
I didn't even think of navy tights until you guys suggested them but they make so much sense.
I went with cognac-coloured wooden wedges because my legs are too short for ankle boots (woe!) and my calves are too big for high boots (so much woe!)
I ended up ordering the dress online in size medium because I had recently purchased a different dress from Old Navy in size small and it didn't fit. The medium is too big. I don't know how it works in the US but here in Canada, if you order online you can return items in-store but you cannot exchange items. I could return the dress in-store and buy the small but I would lose the 20% discount I had for my original transaction. I decided to keep the medium.
Keeping the medium was a mistake. There is too much volume. The attached drawstring belt cinches in some of the material but there is just too much dress. I regret not paying more for the small. Actually, what I really regret is not ordering this dress in both small and medium and just returning the size that didn't fit.
I do still love the dress though. It's the perfect pop of colour for Vancouver's rainy spring without being too summery. I pair it with my trusty Gap jean jacket and it makes me feel like maybe the rain will stop. One day.

Hmmm . . . The rules for Old Navy returns must be different from one location to the next because I have placed multiple online orders that required an exchange and they have never taken the original discount away. In my store here in Ontario they have to return the original item first and then you buy the exchanged item and they adjust the price so it is the same as what you would have paid online.
Since online returns in store are so easy I almost always buy it online (and usually in two sizes like you said you wish you had done) because then you qualify for Air Miles as well.
It looks cute with the jean jacket! So timeless. I really should get a jean jacket.

I have this dress! Love it. But since it is roughly a billion degrees hotter down here in Texas, I've been wearing it to work with nude heels or nude flats, or on the weekends with leather flipflops. I love seeing how you're wearing it in cooler weather!
