Ever since I decided to move "look less like a total schlub" closer to the top of my priority list, I've been looking for easy summer shoes that are just a titch above flip-flops on the dressy scale, and I can't find any I like! It's really quite a problem, at least when you define "problem" as something that is actually not really a big deal but that still consumes many hours of my time as I fruitlessly engage in hopeless late night online searches.
Anyway. I am looking for a summer sandal, flattish, but not the kind that has a strap that goes between your toes. I do not object to the FEELING of something between my toes, but something about all that naked foot real estate that shows in those style of sandals (like these) gives me a weird feeling. I do not like it, I do not like it one bit. I feel like I'm barely wearing shoes! I need toe cover!
So. The ideal sandal in my world is flattish, with one of those light colored almost striped bambooish looking soles, maybe with a tiny heel. Nothing wrapped around the ankle, but a slide style with a strip of patent that goes OVER the toes. In mint green.
Is that specific enough for you? If it makes you feel better, I would grudingly accept other colors besides mint green.
I alerted A'Dell to this shoe problem and she came up with these Diane von Furstenberg lovelies from Bloomingdales:
Rhe problem with these is that they are 1. not quite right and 2. cost $228 dollars. I was thinking maybe more like $40. Tops.
But doesn't this sound like such a cute shoe? I can see it in my head and trust me, it's a cute shoe. In fact, judging by past precedent, shoes JUST like this will be all over the Gap and such NEXT summer. But this summer I'm hoping one of you has seen something just like this and can link to it for me so that I don't have to continue to wear last summer's grubby flip flops with all my cute new clothes.

These are kind of cute, but zebra - http://www.dsw.com/shoe/madeline+stuart+molokai+sandal?prodId=244995&category=dsw12cat440004
I have these and love them. I have pink, but they have green (not mint).

Here are some mint greens, but they are more expensive - and one is taller.

maybe you can find these cheaper somewhere else online. They may not be mint enough and they do have an ankle strap.

This does not fit the mint green requirement, but I recently got a pair and love them as a neutral option that's dressier than a flip-flop but still pretty comfortable: http://www.zappos.com/product/7919671/color/192067

I love these shoes from Steve Madden (more than $40 but less than $228) http://www.stevemadden.com/Item.aspx?id=87370&np=428_819-710_851 and while it wraps around the ankle some, it's not super ankle wrappy. I really love all their sandals right now.

Oh, and it's THIS color combo that I like best: http://www.stevemadden.com/Item.aspx?id=87370&np=428_819-710_851

As soon as I started reading, I thought to myself that it sounds like you might want something like these: http://www.drschollsshoes.com/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?p=15130&pg=5158680. All those from previous commenters are super cute, too.
(And now I want to go buy a new pair of shoes!)

Am totally falling in love with Birkenstocks again! Not a lot of bare foot real estate, super comfy, lots of colors! I have red and an army green of these: http://www.zappos.com/product/109117/color/330071?zlfid=111&recoName=zap_brand_page
