I am not a natural decorator. I know what I like but only when I see it. I couldn't identify my personal decorating style if you held a gun to my head (so please don't), but I do know that I have got to revamp my house, somehow, because it's killing me that we've lived here for three years and the most we've updated is THE GARAGE OMG.
So, let's talk today about the wall in my living room. It's a very big, empty wall! See:
Hey, look, THERE'S the remote I couldn't find for 15 minutes before writing this post.
I have many inspiring looks pinned for this wall and I want to dump them all here and have you tell me what might look best.
(If you're going to suggeest we 1) get rid of the spotlight-ish lighting, my husband's already on it. He haaaaaates those lights and 2) paint the room a lighter color, we plan to do that too! A lighter yellow.)
Some looks!
Lots of canvas prints. There's no couch in this photo, but I'd (try and) space them out as would work best for my living room.
Symmetrical (and identically) framed photos. I'd likely frame a bunch of travel photos.
Center art piece, surrounded by photos.
Lots of (unframed) photos, hung on ribbon.
Framed and chalkboard-painted quote (I love THIS quote, actually).
Framing quotes, in multiple frames. (This is admittedly my favorite so far.)
What do you think looks best? (We're willing to pain the wall a lighter color as that's been a popular opinion.) Anything new to recommend? Want to come and decorate it for me? (I make a good champagne cocktail!)

Canvas wraps! Canvas wraps! It's a BIG wall and I would fill the whole damn thing up with pictures of your family, vacations, etc.
OR, you coulddo frames/white mats so you can change up more cheaply later on. The Buy One/Get One at Aaron Brothers isn't too bad of a deal and the mats at Hobby Lobby are 1/3 of the price.
I feel like the bottom two ideas would be too skimpy for the space (unless you oversized them from what's shown).

Ok- #2 I love the center - but use a chalkboard with a quote AND do a framed quote or two as well. There's no way to do a collage wall wrong and the more personalized, the better.

I love the quote wall - we have been talking about doing this exact thing in our dining room, but can't seem to nail down quotes we both love. I do agree with the comment that it might be too small of scale for the space. Maybe do the qoutes on another wall and do the large scale picture collage on the couch wall. You have such high ceilings - jealous over here in 8 ft land.

I vote 1-canvas photo wall (extra points for a Modern Bird piece!) or 3-chalkboard/quote wall. You need big impact for that wall, I think.

A dear friend has a wall in her home that she has hung with black and white photos of her family, different sizes, but all framed in black. Interspersed are various quotes about family, that she printed on a neutral paper, the framed like the photos. It is absolutely breathtaking.

I also love the quote wall. The hard part for me would be choosing a quote--although seems you could change the quotes on a whim, which would be fun.
Did you see the large graphic quote sign Holly made? http://nothingbutbonfires.com/2010/08/how-make-large-graphic-sign
