Breaking Fashion "Rules"

At this point in time, I'm not sure what fashion "rules" still exist. With the advent of fashion bloggers putting together all sorts of seemingly crazy clothing combinations and having them work, more and more people are pushing the fashion boundaries. I know that I pretty much wear whatever I want, more importantly whenever I want, and don't really care if it's before or after Easter or Labor Day or what have you, even if I am in Texas which is adjacent to the proper South. Obviously, if I have an invitation/ocassion dictating a preferred method of dress, I am going to follow it, I am more referring to the whole "when to wear white" thing or mixing black and brown, wearing horizontal stripes, etc.

Probably my favorite of these rules has been the wearing of white. I have a pair of white jeans that I am in love with and I have been wearing them A LOT. I consider them a neutral and treat them as such.

I also wear horizontal stripes on my lower half 

I mix brown and black

And even own a couple of mini-ish skirts though I am over 35 years old

(though I will admit that last one scares me a bit)

Do you break any fashion "rules"?

I do all those things, too. Seriously, what's going to happen if you break a "rule"? In all my 38 years of living I have never seen anyone get thrown in fashion jail. But I suppose I HAVE seen a few who should! :)

I loved that striped skirt when I found it at Old Navy, sadly I am still too round in the middle to wear it. It looks rest on you and I am jealous.

These are my "rules:"

I don't wear patent leather shoes in the summer.

I don't wear sundresses after Halloween.

I wear white pants when Spring weather arrives.

Black/Brown/Tan/White are all neutrals and match most everything.

mixing brown with black is the one I have a hard time with. You pulled it off, but I just cringe whenever I see someone wearing brown shoes with black pants or something like that. Also navy and black. I have a problem. Also? You are way cute.

I break fashion rules all the time, but mostly because I'm clueless!

I'm glad the brown and black rule is OK to break because I'm having a hard time finding the right shoes to go with my brownish themed summer wardrobe.
