Well, I haven't made any progress yet on my resolution to learn how to do a smoky eye in 2012, but in my quest for the proper materials I did come across a fun little splurge for you. It's the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette, available at Sephora. Behold this beauty:
This is pretty much my neutral eyeshadow dream come true, right here. It's got a mix of matte, shimmer and extra-shimmery shadows in taupe and bronzy colors, plus a double-ended shadow brush and (bonus!) a neutral pink lip gloss.
I'm still working my way up to trying the smoky eye, but when I'm brave enough, this palette has a matte black shadow and some pretty silvery shades too. I think I'll start by smudging some of the black shadow over my eyeliner and see where we get. (Yes, I am Dark Eyeshadow Phobic, hence the resolution.)
Apparently this palette is flying off the shelves, which I think means it will look great on a large variety of people/faces/skin tones. I'm pretty pleased with mine!

This is one of those items that is NEVER in stock, either in my local Sephora or online. So annoying cuz I've wanted it forever!!

I bought it at midnight when it came out. This one has cooler tones. The original Naked palette has warmer tones. So one may look better depending on your skin tone. I find that while I love the original naked palette the naked 2 goes better on my fair cool toned skin. It is awesome for a smokey eye.
