I'm not sure what's come over me in the past month but I need a project at all times lest I go insane. Every where I look there is inspiration and I just want to make all the things! This week a globe showed up in my feed reader.
I could do that! I have a lame globe. PROJECT! Then I recalled website that I'd came across and found this.
Oh, yes! I must do this! MUST! So, off to the craft store I went for some blue and yellow paint because I can do this. I started with this. A boring thrifted globe
.
I almost stopped after painting the water. It was gorgeous in person, that deep blue and all of the colors?

I loved it but ultimately decided to keep going. I stopped when it looked like this
I totally chickend out with the yellow lining. I may go for it in a day or two when I'm up for working on it again, I'll probably paint the base black, too. I love how it looks now though it took an insane amount of time, about 4 hours so far and let me tell you, there are a lot fewer islands on my version than the original. What do you think? My 3 year old could not hate it more! Did I deface it or give it a hip new look?

I love love LOVE this idea. What a great way to thrift an out of date globe! My mom has one from the USSR days. This would be a great way to bring it out of the storage closet!

I'd leave off the yellow. I think it looks great just blue/black.
