As anyone who knows her can attest, my kid is obsessed with the mail. Obsessed. When she was first starting with this, um, hobby, we naively thought she was unique. After all, what kid becomes singularly focused on the postal service?
It turns out, there are many. Elmo's World has a mail segment, post offices are common field trips for preschools, and Melissa & Doug has this:
This thing is awesome, you guys. It's AWESOME. It comes with six pieces of mail and six stamps, all of different sizes and weights. The slots are of different sizes to match the envelopes, turning it into a shape sorter as well as a pretend-play tool. Since it's arrived in our home, thanks to one of Sam's best friends (and her mama), she has not stopped mailing. This thing has gotten us through HOURS of play already, and she's had it a little over a week.
Five stars. FIVE STARS!
PS, the product reviews on Amazon talk about the door being flimsy, but they *must* have upgraded it since then, because the one we have has a door reinforced by metal hinges. I don't think I could tear it off if I tried.
