I'm pretty new to sewing, and so far I love it. The combination of relaxation and creation is perfect for me. It helps the winter days pass and keeps me out of the pantry. But I've quickly realized that I hate sewing pillows, I don't really know why but I just don't dig it.
I recently picked up two place mats from Target with awesome embroidery because they screamed pillows to me. I don't know about you, but cream embroidered placements, while gorge, don't really work with two small boys and a spaghetti dinner.
First thing I did was take my seam ripper to one end of the placemat.
Take the entire seam out, corner to corner.
Then stuff it but carefully. Put stuffing in the corners and take care to separate the stuffing as you go to avoid lumps.
Pin it to prepare for sewing it back together.
Then run it through your machine.
That's it. No measuring, cutting, pre-washing, ironing. Just rip, stuff, sew, done.
$3.99 and 15 minutes. Hallo! That should fit your budget and your free time.
