Spring has officially Sprung, at least where I live. And that means I need t-shirts. Lots and lots of t-shirts. And maybe you are a 24-year-old hardbody who can wear those tissue-thin shirts that are in all the stores these days, but I am a 35-year-old mother of two and I need something more substantial than tissue between my midsection and the general public. I also have a long torso - just long enough that most shirts stop an inch above my waistband, but not long enough to wear tall-sized shirts without looking like I am wearing a mini-dress.
Enter Merona Women's Double Layer shirts from Target.
Last Spring, I bought four or five of the tees and two of the tanks, and I wore them all Spring, all Summer, all Fall, and, under sweaters and such, all Winter too. The front of these shirts is a double layer of fabric, which helps prevent them from settling into any abdominal crevices you may have (speaking from experience here), and the back is a single layer of fabric, to help prevent you expiring from the heat come August. I am especially fond of the tanks, of which I could only find two last year, so when I passed a newly-stocked display this week I loaded ten new ones into my cart.
But the best part, at least in my opinion, is that these shirts are $10 a pop. Usually I would expect to get one season, possibly two, out of a ten dollar shirt. But the ones I bought last year have been washed 30-40 times apiece, at least, and for the most part have held up and are still entirely wearable. If you happen to run into me between now and October, I'd say there is an 85% chance I will be wearing one of these shirts. If you get some too, we can be twins! (Sorry, my four year old is rubbing off on me.)

I nearly ordered 5 (to get the free shipping) IMMEDIATELY, because every time I wear one of my Old Navy t-shirts I think of how right you are that they are "one-ply" but it's so hard to find shirts that are long enough, but then I thought maybe I should at least try one on first, considering I am going to Target TOMORROW.
