There is nothing I like wearing more during the spring and summer than swingy cotton skirts. I own a few pairs of capri pants (I SWEAT THROUGH THEM) and I have denim and khaki skirts (SWEATYSWEATYSWEATY) and although I like cotton dresses, too, I find that a lot of them seem to lack... substantial upper body coverage. I mean, I don't want 3/4-length sleeves, but I am getting up there in years and I don't necessarily always want spaghetti straps, either.
Skirts, though! Skirts are functional and breezy and you can dress them up or down and really, the only annoyances I find with the ones I have are that they're sometimes a little TOO long and flouncy which means if the wind picks up, it blows my skirt right up around my midsection which displays my comfortable underwear. By "comfortable" I actually mean "heinous" and "full-coverage."
I am constantly on the lookout for more perfect skirts to add to my growing collection and last week, I found one that I couldn't pass up. Even at full price, which is really saying something for me.
Tiered knit skirt, $39.50 at Ann Taylor LOFT
It is made of the softest cotton, has a foldover waistband AND looks adorable with a tank top or a sequined shell. I might have to go back for one or two or... oh, okay EVERY COLOR. (I bought it in coastal fog.)
