I know people can have strong feelings when it comes to brand loyalty, but in my opinion, there are certain things in life that are in-arguably the best. If you want a stand mixer, you should buy a Kitchen Aid. If you need a food processor, get a Cuisinart. And when it comes to trash cans, you want to buy a Simple Human trash can - they aren't bargain priced, but they are impeccably made, they have great customer service, and best of all, they work how they are supposed to work.
I've owned a large Simple Human trash can for years, and my feelings for it verge on the inappropriate (I like it A LOT), but sadly, it doesn't fit in my new kitchen. Luckily for me, Simple Human also makes this fabulous Under Sink Trash Can door holder thingee - it screws onto the inside of your kitchen cabinet door, and uses regular plastic grocery bags. It has a holder for the plastic grocery bags built right in, and it's only $29.95.
This is such a win win I can't even believe it. I don't have to find a separate place to store left over plastic grocery bags, I no longer have to buy box after box of expensive trash bags, my kitchen trash can is easily accessed right under my kitchen sink, and it frees up valuable kitchen floor space. My husband was worried that it would be too small, but I actually prefer it this way - I got really sick of having to arm wrestle huge overstuffed trash bags out of the old trash can.
It's cheaper if you buy it from Simple Human than anywhere else and their shipping fee is only $5.95 - cheaper than Amazon. They also have very detailed information on their web site so you can make sure it will fit under your sink. (Just a heads up, it would NOT have fit on the side of my sink where my disposal is, but it does fit on the other side, so try both sides if you're having issues with fit.)
LOVE.
