Last weekend I was fortunate enough to attend a baby shower for a gal friend of mine down in San Jose. It was a decent road trip filled with CDs of old, voice-mails left for friends who didn't answer, and a lot of dead air since there weren't any kids in the backseat. While it was relaxing, it was also quite boring. But boring can be a good thing when your daily life isn't as dull.
Anyway, the shower was lovely, the food was delicious and the company was delightful. It seemed like the time past so quickly and all of a sudden it was time for me to head back home. Before I left, I was handed my "parting gift" and was immediately floored with delight.
Now, the jars above aren't exactly like the one I received. (I wish I could show you mine but my jar is already empty.) Mine wasn't tagged as "Cowboy" cookies either. They were called "Floppy" cookies. (Maybe a nickname for the unborn child? Not sure.)
I was really touched by the gift and was so impressed with the efforts they took to make something special for everyone in attendance. Not 24 hours later, my boys and I mixed all the ingredients in the jar along with some butter, vanilla and an egg to then make DELICIOUS oatmeal, chocolate chip and M & M cookies.
These gifts have even inspired me to make them for my boys' birthday party as party favors. (one jar per family) The party takes place at an amusement park, so my theme will definitely be different, but the idea is the same. It's something the children can take home that can bring their family together to make something delectable.

That is a gorgeous jar of goodies and an awesome party favor. Mental note taken.

Neat idea!!! My shower is tomorrow and I've made fabric flower brooches for everyone . . . but I almost wish I'd seen this first!

These are great! I used to make them years ago, for coworkers and they were always well received. They will be a hit at your birthday party, just change up the M&M's and you will be all set.
