Are you already thinking of a summer vacation or is that just me? Well, other than an airplane full of cash flying shockingly low to my house, my usual thought when it comes to vacations is where to go?
We polled the writers at Style Lush to ask their favorite stateside vacation destination. Sure, we'd all love to gallivant around Italy, but most of us are still trying to save as much money as we can. So, where to go in our own vast country? Here's at least some good places to consider!
It's so, so beautiful and there is so much to do. Beaches! Wineries! Tours of the mountains! Sometimes you can see SHARKS from the cliffs! -- Jonna
They have barbecue, Graceland, the Peabody Hotel, fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches, and open containers are legal up and down Beale Street. -- Elizabeth
-- Natalie-- Elisabeth
5. Las Vegas
I have a soft spot for Sin City. I know how to have good, clean fun amidst the sleeze, although hear me when I say one should only stay in Vegas for THREE DAYS; any more than that can kill a person. -- Leah
-- Jess
I just love the food and bar scene there; you can't go wrong. -- Sarah and -- Amy
-- Kerri Anne
The beach was lovely, the town was small enough to be able to walk around and take it all in and I bet when it's summer the weather is beautiful. -- Kristie
10. Key West, Fla.
It has everything I love about the Caribbean...friendly people, good
(cheap!) drinks and delicious seafood, not to mention the gorgeous
turquoise water. Plus, you can't beat the beautiful drive into Key
West on Seven Mile Bridge. -- Katie
11. San Diego
-- Emily12. Austin, Texas
Texas had to be represented somehow, which goes to show I talk a big game when it comes to disliking this state. You have great food, live music and laid-back people. Also, unless it's this year, good weather year-round. -- Jennie
Tell us, what's your favorite stateside city?

For a summer getaway you can't beat Mackinac Island, Michigan. There is so much to do for both families (the Fort, bike/horse rides, boat rides, kite flying) and couples/singles (great bar crawl!). And of course there's the fudge. I could write a whole blog post about Mackinac Island fudge :-)

If you're going to hit up San Francisco and Disneyland, why not stop between the two in my hometown of San Luis Obispo? It's a sleepy college town, mostly, but it's got a great downtown with a Thursday Night Farmers Market, easy access to quiet beaches such as Morro Bay or Cayucos, or more touristy ones like Pismo or Shell Beach. Hearst Castle is about an hour north, and Santa Barbara about two hours south. The weather is almost always mild, year-round. As I type this now, I ask myself, why did I move from there to Seattle? :)

I love Humboldt County up in Northern California. The redwoods are GORGEOUS, the ocean views are spectacular, and the towns are sleepy but full of fabulous restaurants, college kids, and breweries. If you go in the spring, when the fog clears in the afternoon it actually feels sort of Majestic. I feel douchey even saying that but it's true.

I completely agree with Jonna's pick of Santa Barbara! I used to live there (college + several years afterward) and it is such a lovely town. Excellent restaurants, wine-tasting, just all around relaxing fun. Plus, it's gorgeous! It's only two hours away, so we usually head up there at least a couple of times a year.

Oh, I have to agree with Carmel. It's been my favorite since I was five.
