So, I am one of those freaks of nature with combination skin, meaning that if I apply any sort of acne medication, or oil-controlling product, my skin dries up almost immediately. I balance it with moisturizer, but sometimes, I wind up with those weird, flaky patches. Exfoliation is something that is absolutely necessary for me.
I'd investigated a variety of skin brushes and fancy systems, but one happy afternoon at Target, I stumbled upon the Neutrogena Wave. It was on sale, and I thought I'd give it a go.
(photo from here)The wave is basically a hand held facial cleanser. You attach a little pad to the top, dampen it, and turn it on. It vibrates and helps to slough away dead skin, makeup and helps unclog your pores. There are normal everyday pads, as well as deeper exfoliating ones. I like them both, depending on what I think my skin needs that day.
I've seen a significant difference in my face since I started using it. I usually cleanse first with a little Cetaphil to get rid of my makeup and then use the Wave to finish washing. I'm always amazed at how much stuff seems to come off, even if my skin has been washed first. My pores seem smaller and my face is noticeably softer. I see less dry skin and it seems that my makeup goes on more smoothly, too.
While it may not be the fanciest skin care product in the world, I love it and consider it the best $12 I've spent in awhile.

Thanks for the review, I've been looking for an affordable hand held cleanser!
FYI, I've been using Cetaphil for a long time, but just yesterday when I went in for my first microdermabrasion treatment, the aesthetician asked me what products I use and advised me against using Cetaphil, because it has sodium lauryl sulfate, which clogs the pores and leaves a film on your skin all day. I'm going to try not using it for a while and see if I notice a difference.
