OK, look, I know, I live in Vermont where it's been snowing for almost two months now, but it's already November and even in the warmest of climes, the temperature should be dropping at least a little. And the genius of these socks -- the "smart" in Smartwool, if you will -- is that they keep feet warm in cool weather and cool in warm weather. They also wick away moisture, and I've never -- not once -- had stinky feet while wearing these socks. Not. Once. I told you! GENIUS.
They're expensive for socks -- I know, I feel like I'm cheating you, recommending all of these pricey items -- but I promise you, they're worth it. They're the most comfortable socks I've ever owned, and they fit nice and snug, and never stretch out. And they come in adorable patterns, from stripey little numbers to classic fair isles.
Smartwool socks! Available at Zappos (my personal favorite), Smartwool and a ton of outdoorsy-type shops. Starting at around $16.

Also, not itchy if you have a wool allergy. Just sayin'.

I love smartwool. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. Also, I should mention how much I love these socks. I LOVE THEM! And Heidi is right: not itchy. Though I also can wear (regular) wool just fine especially if it's cold enough outside.
