I love Scrabble. I'm supposed to, right? I'm an English teacher, after all. In all seriousness, I do adore it. About a year ago, I was looking for some Scrabble-related sundries when I thought to myself: wouldn't a Scrabble tile necklace be awesome? I set about Googling it, and while I found some ideas for using the tiles creatively, none of them had the exact design I was hoping for. So, I made my own. Here's how I did it:
Supplies:
Scrabble tiles (I would recommend garage sales or even Ebay for old sets!)
Decorative paper
Jewelry pendant bails*
Chain, ribbon, rope, etc. for hanging*
Diamond essence liquid acrylic*
Super glue*
Small paintbrush
1) Take your decorative paper and cut it to fit the Scrabble tile, with a little overhang for the sides
2) Once cut and fitted, affix the decorative paper to the back, using a little of the Diamond Essence acrylic. Paint it on using a small paintbrush. I'd suggest painting the front of the Scrabble tile, too--makes it shiny!
3) Let it all dry.
4) Next, attach the bail to the back of the tile with super glue. LET DRY COMPLETELY.
5) Hang from chain, wear!

This
project probably took me 15 minutes of hands on time, yet it made me
really happy, and in my humble opinion, shows off the kind of nerdy
cuteness I like to embody.

Love this Amy - I have a scrabble tile necklace that a friend got me on Etsy. The letter is on one side, and there is a decoupaged (??) design on the other side so you can decide which way to wear it.
