When my husband and I moved into this home 3 years ago it was empty. We moved from a little townhouse to a home in the suburbs, less than half of our rooms were furnished. It's taken a long time to develop the style and in the process I made a some snap decisions and brought home a few things that didn't work out. This lamp was one of them.
As the room took shape it began to stick out and I hated it more and more. I started shopping for a replacement and was unable to find anything in my budget that I liked. And then it hit me. Make it work! I decided to spray the base and replace the shade. $23 for a new shade, a spool of ribbon and a can of spray paint later I had a lamp that I love.
Here it is in the room. It's a small but noticeable change. More than worth the few bucks and an afternoon with a can of spray paint.

Ooh, I LOVE this! Would you mind telling us what brand and color spraypaint you used? I want to do something very similar with a desk. And a chalkboard. And my own lamp. Basically, I want everything in my house to be this color.

Of course! I got the paint at Michael's, the brand is Design Master (its for fake flowers (shutter)) the color is Robin's Egg #792. It took a lot of coats, 6 if I remember correctly but even so it feels like it was just half the can.
This brand has an insane color range and I think it was $8 for the can. Have fun!
